"Nothing positive to report. Fellow at front desk claimed not to know of arrangements made for a quiet room; placed me in room closest to highway. Price charged at check-in was a higher rate than I'd booked and when I noted such was told it was due to fact that one night of my stay was a Saturday - even though this was obvious when reservation made. Room itself had foul odor of mold and mustiness; no hairdryer; WiFi did not work - front desk fellow claimed it worked on his phone, so problem was mine; towels smelled of cigarette smoke. Floor (not carpeted) was dirty - I ran a tissue over it and it came up with grit. There was not an electrical outlet near the desk so one could sit at desk and work from computer (which ended up not mattering since WiFi wasn't working). An alarm emanating from an unmarked box next to bed went off at both 5 a.m. and 6 a.m., presumably some one else's pre-set that had not been turned off - it would've been courteous for fellow at front cubby to have alerted me to this, advising that this unmarked box is actually an alarm. Lastly, the parking space in front of the room I was assigned still had a pile of leftover snow that should've been shoveled. That turned out to be the least of the unpleasantness as there were numerous parking spots open at a distance from my assigned room. Please travelers, proceed with caution before booking at EconoLodge Newton NJ as it is not clean, welcoming or in any way hospitable, but rather akin to a tenement. "
