"No.5 Valley Lodge was the absolute highlight of our honeymoon. My wife and I stayed here during our visit to Zhangjiajie, and nothing else came close. You wake up surrounded by mountains and rice fields — literally inside the national park. Breathtaking and unforgettable.
This isn’t a luxury hotel — it’s a mountain lodge, and that’s its charm. Rustic, big, built entirely out of wood. The staff are the heart of this place. Shoutout to Frankie for making us feel at home, and to the Tea Master for her warmth, incredible tea ceremonies, and gifts we’ll treasure forever. Luggage help was always there without asking — service here puts many luxury hotels to shame.
For our honeymoon, the staff decorated our entire room with balloons and messages — one of the most thoughtful gestures of our trip. Breakfast was fantastic, served right next to our room. The hotel also provides free transport to the Avatar Mountains, which are incredibly close.
Things to know: the wooden construction means sound travels between rooms. The lodge is remote — the city, Grand Canyon, and other attractions require a ride, and hotel transport is pricey (we used DiDi). But we came wanting a deep nature experience, and that’s exactly what we got.
Not for everyone, but for us it was perfection. The best stay of our honeymoon, no question."
"We got a free upgrade to a bigger room. The staff at the reception is extremely helpful and polite. The cleaning lady took such good care of us and went out of her way to keep us comfortable. The hotel provides free unlimited bottled water. There is also a free self service laundry.
The property is centrally located and it’s a 5 min walk to the Tianmen cable car station. It is surrounded by plenty of restaurants and spas for a great massage.
Breakfast spread is vast and good.
The only minor negative point is that the bathroom shower water pressure at night after 11pm is very low."
"Really lovely stay. The staff were super attentive, helpful, and kind. The room was great. Very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, and the location was great. Highly recommend! "
"WOW. The place was so beautiful. It was sat between mountains with the BEST scenes ever. The room we stayed in was so beautiful and had an unreal view of the hills. The food was also amazing. We had certain requirements as we can only eat halal food, and they made sure to accommodate as best they could. Felix and Elvis were honestly so good. The best service ever. They helped us prepare and helped with our whole itinerary to Tianmen Mountains and the Avatar Mountains. From the airport, a driver was provided, and picked us up promptly. The car was luxury. As part of the itinerary, they also booked our tickets to the 2 mountains, and provided us with drivers to and from there. We were honestly stress free and the whole experience was exceptional. Anytime we had any enquiries, we just messaged the team and they got back to us within minutes. "
"We really enjoyed staying here because of how attentive the owner was, it's quaint and intimate, good for a short stay. We figired out the heating it's a bit on the cooler side if you like that. The owner is quick with helping with everything we needed. We recommend having we chat installed. This place is a family owned business, in a safe area, a little difficult to find but our hotel manager helped us a lot, we placed the orthopedic hospital as reference when taking a taxi back. Overall a perfect place to stay as it is close to the cable car for tinamen mountaint and a quick cab eide to 72 towers and close to thw train station for a cheap ride to furong ancient town! Also went to thw national park forna day feom here."
"Good cleaning staff
Ran out of food everyday at buffet
Poor help with getting a early morning taxi almost missed our train
Front desk attendant and security could not get us a taxi so a stranger helped us 😡"
"The food was excellent, all locally-sourced organic food. Almost all Chinese food. There was coffee available at breakfast. The room was nice and big, with an excellent shower. The hotel provided free transport to/from the National Park entrance, and arranged for transport to/from airport and train station."
