"Modern renovation, while retaining some original features (e.g. flagstone floor in cafe area). Clean and comfortable. Everything was self service so no staff on site (a bit impersonal but not really an issue). Definitely a good option for fellow solo visitors to the area."

"It had not been made clear that I’d need photo ID in order to check in. The bed was very squeaky (metal frame) and there was a strong smell of damp coming from the shower room because the extractor didn’t work. Otherwise, the staff were extremely pleasant and it was a very quiet place to stay."

"The property was excellently situated just around the corner from the Minster. The rooms are well presented with everything you need and staff are very helpful. The pub down stairs is well stocked and a nice environment to be in. Jane was amazing and very generous on our arrival to take our bags in early so we could make the most of our time in York. "Välkomnande. God service. Atmosfären kändes avkopplande och bidrog till en trivsamhet. För att vara UK var det ovanligt bra ordning o reda! Så som vi vill ha det i Sverige. Möttes vid incheck av en en omhändertagande kvinna, som senare visade sig vara Manager. Så jag "kom rätt" från början. All övrig personal gav mig sedan all önskvärd service! Detta hostel är för mig klanderfritt! Enda negativa för mig som Interrailare, är i så fall är att det inte är placerat nära järnvägsstationen. Det ligger...

"Really nice reception staff and made us feel welcome and was really nice to us as we stayed there because my daughter had an operation and needed to rest after and they made sure we had everything we needed and one of them even offered to fill her hot water bottle for her stomach. So thank u. The rooms are small but u dont need much when it's just for a rest spot for a few days. Thanks again to the staff and making sure my daughter had everything she needed. Much appreciated."

"They ofter a cheap, no thrills, alternative to hotels. I work on my computer as I travel and they have a comfortable chair, big desk and super fast internet. There’s reasonable cooking facilities and big areas to relax in. It’s not the Hilton but their internet is faster and it’s more suitable for work. "

"I stayed at the new hostel on King Street that replaced the old building very suddenly. As a result they are still in the process of setting it up but even so it is still welcoming and pleasant. They must've worked really hard to get it ready so quickly. My room and bed were excellent and I imagine nowhere else offers such great value in a major city centre on a Friday night. "We had a very nice stay, clean, comfortable, shower hit and clean. Bed very comfortable, quiet surroundings. Staff communicated through phone when we had to postpone and change first day of stay, Donna was very accommodating changing our arrival day also resending our code details, very efficient and replying by return. Would definitely recommend little hide. "
