"We did not realize the hotel was under construction for renovation. It really wasn’t horrible or intrusive to our stay. We had an oversized room with a bunk room. Our teenage son and our young grandson slept in them but they smelled bad. They didn’t complain until the next morning. The room itself was clean and pleasant. The bathroom was not very clean. The counter and sink were not bad but found a few spots that could’ve easily been missed. The big problem was the big jacuzzi tub that was so dirty that even our boys wouldn’t use it. Luckily it was just an overnight and we headed home first thing in the morning. The manager was welcoming, kind, and very friendly. The price was good, so we didn’t complain about the bathroom and beds. Breakfast was the usual continental cuisine. Coffee was good. "
"This place was just OK seemed to have gotten better reviews, which is why we picked it. The rooms were just fine but a little dirty. The shower was wonderful. The breakfast was nothing but I really dislike drinking coffee out of Styrofoam cups. It was dog friendly but when I took my dog outside, I’ve never seen so much trash surrounding a building and I didn’t wanna walk my dog in all the trash. The price was good for what we got."
"We had a really disappointing experience with Powhatan Motel. After driving 16 hours on a long road trip, we arrived around 3am expecting to check in, since the motel clearly advertises a 24-hour front desk and check-in availability after 4pm.
Unfortunately, that was not the case. There was no one available at the front desk, no way to check in, and no communication whatsoever from the property. We were completely exhausted and left stranded in the middle of the night with a valid reservation.
Because of this, we had no choice but to get back on the road and continue driving through the night, turning what should have been a 16-hour trip into nearly 24 hours. It was unsafe, stressful, and entirely avoidable.
If a property is going to advertise a 24-hour front desk, they need to honor that commitment. At the very least, they should clearly communicate any restrictions on late-night arrivals, as many other hotels do. This level of unreliability is unacceptable, especially for travelers depending on a place to rest.
Also, Expedia did not give us a refund saying that we were the ones who cancelled. Cherry on top!"
"We stay here frequently and never have any issues with the property, staff, etc! The hotel is with walking distance to an amazing BBQ restaurant, Taco Bell and Cracker Barrel."
