We had a superior room and found everything just ok. For the money we paid very disappointing for our honeymoon
Lack of food as most things were unavailable, breakfast is congested in a way too small room. If you have any allergies nothing is notified on menu and staff advised to QR the menu which sent us to the main menu. Back to square one.
Expected so much and be special and it just was not
Room was spacious and clean
Staff were good/friendly;bar was good!
Brkft was good with lots of variety/buffet
Location was amazing, fronting onto Lake Windermere!!

When we arrived at the hotel we couldn’t find Reception but a staff member said it was just the end of the bar. Signage would have been helpful! Unfortunately, although I’d booked some 8 weeks earlier and spoken to Reservations requesting a particular room, which they confirmed, our reservation could not be found on the computer. We were told to sit down and some 10 minutes later a member of, I presume Management, said there’d been a maintenance problem and unfortunately we would be across the road in the Annex. I had expressly told Reservations I did not want to be there because I have mobility problems and didn’t want to have to keep negotiating the road. However this was a ‘take it or leave it’ offer giving us no alternative. The room was very dark with anyone going to their cars being able to see straight into the room as there was no voile privacy curtain at the window. The final insult was on Wednesday evening when we were told we couldn’t order food. My husband pointed out we were guests but were told no food orders were being taken come back in an hour! That was at 8.30pm. This has been an unforgettable trip for all the wrong reasons.
Dirty bathroom, shower drain was blocked, no view, traffic noise, tired carpets and furniture, breakfast was poor quality. Definitely not a 4 star property. Avoid this place while in the Lake District.
Great location, with beer garden on the edge of Windermere. Sadly the bar and queueing system, has a lot to be desired. So slow it’s unreal! Most of the staff were miserable and hard work, the room was in need of a make. Very rundown…
Third year staying here and what a different experience. Whether this was due to it being a bank holiday or not some things could have been better. On arrival not the usual warm welcome told we couldn’t book a table for food that night as not taking reservations, went outside and managed to book online!!!! Took 30 minutes queuing to check in and both nights took 25 minutes to queue for a drink and to order food at the bar. Ran out of beers second night and burgers on first night, considering we were told it’s like this all the time during holidays then you would expect enough stock to be ordered. The bar staff and those clearing the area worked really hard, credit to them. The breakfast system needs some thinking as you are constantly asked what room number you are when going up for the buffet and where the toaster is located blocks the way to the tables causing people to bump into one another. No fans in the room so had to open windows which not good being on a busy main road. Will seriously consider whether we would rebook again during the holiday season.

Great breakfast. Central location to explore the Lake District. Large room with lake view wonderful
Nice room. Ours overlooked the road. But it was double glazed so not noisy. The en suite was nice. Had a window. The room was quite hot though so we opened the window. The breakfast was good. We asked for oat milk and veggie sausages that weren’t obviously on offer, but they obliged. The real winner was the view from the main bar / restaurant area over the lake. It was stunning.
One of the best hotels in the area. Beautiful garden overlooking the lake.
Good food and friendly staff.
It gets understandably busy on sunny days.
Easy walk to Ambleside.
Room was bright and clean! Staff were amazing! Restaurant and Bar were fantastic! Only upgrade I would suggest would be a door key upgrade to cards. Wonderful visit overall!
