"Hotel Shattuck Plaza is perfectly located for a visit to UC Berkeley, less than a block away. I found everything about the hotel appealing, a nice mix of historic and modern. Although this is a boutique hotel without a lobby with coffee or drinks, there is a 7-Eleven a couple doors down and plenty of coffee shops and eateries about a 10 minute walk up the street on Piedmont Avenue. "The front desk clerk at reception really set the (bad) tone for the stay. All the details below, but we felt pretty insulted by staff to the point that we would not recommend this hotel. Rooms are dated but clean. It has a pool facing the water and it is perfectly nice and very, very cold; hot tub is nice too (but it doesn't have jets, fyi).
