I checked into the hotel and got to my room about 6:30 pm on a Saturday night. At around 7:00 pm (while in the shower) the lights went out. I quickly got dressed and discovered that all of the power in my room was off. I had been traveling all day so my phone was on 3% and could not be charged and the land line in my room was *dead.* I called the front desk (using precious battery life on my cell) and the call went straight to *voicemail*.
I left my room and followed the exit signs around the hall in circles, in a panic, and finally realized that I had to go through a heavy set of metal doors, that were shut, in order to access the corridor back toward the elevators. When I got to the elevators they were *dead.* I went back through the corridor to the stairs and decided to go down the 7 flights of stairs to the first floor to find out what was going on. Immediately I ran into an older woman in a panic in the stairwell. She was relieved to see me because she had been on the ground floor when the power went out and had climbed to the 7th floor to get to her husband in their room. But she had been *stuck* in the stairwell because the doors from the stairs to the floors were *locked on every floor!*
I walked her to her room, which was across from mine and she told me that the power was out on the whole block. I was afraid to be stuck in the stairwell so I decided to wait out the power outage in my room in the dark. No one from the hotel checked on me and I was refused a refund
