"Small single room, nicely decorated and simply furnished. Fabulous view of the cathedral. The place is clean and quiet, I loved it and when I can afford it I will definitely stay again. The reception staff were lovely and very helpful. The breakfast was also really nice and the dining room is very calm and comfortable. "We stayed here for one night over the weekend, a pretty little property around 30 minutes walk from central Canterbury. This wasn't too much of an issue as we are happy to walk but it was further than anticipated. We slept so well in the soft bed and liked our little room. When we arrived however there was a brown stain in the toilet and although we flushed it a few times, it would always come back which suggests plumping needs a look at. "First impressions were “oh, no!” Reception area seemed dark and claustrophobic and the long walk to the room was almost depressing. The room seemed pretty dated, but it was immaculately clean. The super king size bed was super comfortable, and despite being part of a busy pub/restaurant in was incredibly quiet. Bathroom was so clean it almost sparkled! "Generally the standard of hygiene could be improved dramatically , just very dusty and dirty in certain areas. They just need to hoover the carpet more. We had a blocked sink and the water wasn’t very warm despite setting to maximum. I understand other guests had similar issues. "The overall property is in need of care. It is a very interesting, almost grand building but it needs refurbishing and better maintenance.
