No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well prepared. We've made a list of handy hints that will get your Nelson Bay escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be easy if you've got all the right things. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a spare change of clothes and a magazine or two. Next, find room in your hand luggage for your electronic gadgets, chargers, your important medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow too. Lastly, don't forget to take your passport, travel papers and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like your pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and gasoline, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The answer to a comfortable flight can be as simple as your clothing choices. Prepare for temperature changes by layering up. This will keep you nice and warm if the cabin starts to cool down. Shoes like high heels and sandals are best left in your suitcase. Instead, opt for flat, closed-toed footwear like sneakers. Your feet will appreciate it.
- Most travellers are aware of DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. There are numerous ways to reduce your risk. Wear a good-quality pair of compression socks or tights, drink lots of water and remember to keep your legs and feet moving. Walk around the cabin when possible or try out some exercises in your seat.
