"We were in room 169. It was a very long walk to the room. However, it was worth it. We had a full view of York Racecourse, from our balcony. The room was very roomy and well equipped. The restaurant served an excellent dinner and a very nice buffet breakfast. The hotel originally was a Manor House built in the 1880s. A very interesting history of it can be found online. "

"We had an amazing time at this place. Staff were really friendly, delicious breakfast and afternoon tea, great spa facilities, and the treatments were amazing. Highly recommended. Only minor issue was only one channel would work on the TV due to signal issues. A smart TV would have been good."

"Lovely hotel but our room wasn’t cleaned properly, could have done with a good freshen up , however we did see painters in so probably in process of freshening up rooms, bed was very comfortable but could have done with new pillows as they were a bit flat, Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Their website states that breakfast is made to order and I recall seeing it on the expedia page but then was notified a day before about where to go for food instead. "An enjoyable one night stay at a hotel where the positive features far outweigh any minor niggles. Attentive and pleasant staff, excellent food, well presented and served in a timely manner. Rooms just bordering on the need for some love and attention, although White Stuff toiletries do a good job in diverting attention from the nasty stain on one of the seats. Decent enough spa facilities, although it would be helpful if the price to swim were included in the booking price."

"The rooms were very clean, however we had a disabled room but only shower with no chair in for the disabled person. The staff were very helpful and did get a chair for the shower. Breakfast was well staffed and a good variety of food on offer. Excellent. Bar was well staffed and well maintained with good stock.
