"The room and bathroom were tiny but clean. Extremely cold and I had no instructions for controlling the heat which was constantly on “standby”. Upon arrival I stood in pouring rain ringing entry bell with no response. A kind passer-by went inside the restaurant to alert them. A sign for hotel reception would have been helpful. Staff were friendly and I had great support when my suitcase padlock required cutting off! Nobody was around to assist with taking my suitcases downstairs on departure. "

"Lovely little hotel above a very noisy (weekend) pub! Had a large room facing the street. Was told things get noisy on Friday and Saturday nights - they weren't lying, it was CRAZY. Had ear plugs and eye mask and was up all night. Couldn't open the windows for air, so many smokers outside the pub. Wish they had given us a discount on pub food considering we were there for 5 nights. The vertuo coffee machine didn't work, daily fresh baked cookies were a nice touch. It's fine, it's cute but...

"Lovely surprise of a well priced clean, modern and very comfortable small hotel. Staff were very friendly, atmosphere was relaxed and the food was excellent. The restaurant dinner prices were very high for a non London hotel but the food was good quality. "

"Room very cold, no staff on site overnight, no food available (breakfast or dinner) we only stayed one night instead of two. The email received prior to arriving stated that breakfast and dinner would be available, staff dismissive regarding no food situation."

"Restaurant/ bar/spa Staff made the trip, friendly professional and knew what it meant to make a memorable stay. Rooms VERY tired. First room smelt of body odour. Second room bathroom literally falling apart. Cracked sink, everything leaked. Heating so unbelievably hot but unable to turn it off even after reporting to staff. Slept with windows wide open all evening. Lovely location, quiet and peaceful. "

"Could not fault my one night here. Lovely room, comfy bed, big tv, nice big shower and lots of hot water. The restaurant is excellent and very reasonably priced, breakfast looked great but I had not enough time to stop and eat. This place is a great advert for staying in a country pub:-)"

"Not the friendliest of welcomes. A meeting cancellation meant I arrived early but I wasn't allowed to check in. The staff I encountered throughout my stay were distant and aloof. Signage around the sprawling site was poor so I ended up wandering around to find various amenities. For the positives, the room was clean and the breakfast was good quality "

"This was a great place to stay, close proximity to London. Easy to hop on the bus or head next door to Waitrose. Staff were very friendly and accommodating -would absolutely recommend a stay here. "

"The room was cooler than I would have liked, but not too cold. The temperature/fan control did not seem to work, neither did the radiator in the room."

"2 day stay . Very bad smelling room even after 2 days with window open. Its clearly been lived in by a smoker and a sock was still covering the smoke detector. Really uncumfortabke beds and dirty stained sheets and matress. No lamps no cups, spoon or coffee. Even had to tune the telly myself. Very strange types walking around the corridors would not recomend. Staff were nice enough when i spoke to them. Im not the complaining type so just loughed if off as a bad experience never to be repeated....
