"Fake tan stains were in the bath from previous guest. Hot water took almost 10mins to come on. Outdoor had a few broken planters and weeds coming through the floor. Kitchen was closed for maintenance so there was no food options until breakfast the next day. I could hear people going in and out their rooms until about 2am and then starting again at 6am. I have stayed previously and was impressed but this time just felt like lack of care was given."

"Parking ok I've gave this a bad review as idiots on motorbikes from 11pm till 2.15 am flying around in adjacent carpark and couldn't get any sleep. It's about time police done patrols to stop this anti social behaviour. We were flying early from airport so did not get a wink ov sleep"

"We loved the accessibility this property gave us to St Andrews! Everything is walkable & it was especially close to the old course club house for my husband’s golf round. Parking is super hard to come by in town for free. This location was right around the corner from an entire row of free spots, we never had an issue finding a spot. Staff were all amazing! Would definitely recommend this location!"

"It is convenient to park your car at this inn. Highland Gate is not the inn but the the restaurant. The Highland Gate restaurant and Marton's Inn are in two separate buildings. The inn's outside apearance and inside conditions are quite mediocre: carpet in the hallway looks dirty at every entrance to the room; there is no rack or shelve for suitcases though the room size is decent; the bathroom has a peculiar smell (not stinky but unpleasant to me), and the double bed (made of two single beds)...

"First time i have stopped at this hotel but it will not be the last really pleasant owners and staff lovely big room and on suit bathroom and great breakfast at a nice price. Plus it has it own pub."

"On arrival we were ushered into an adjacent building with a very dilapidated exterior. The bland room resembled a student bedsit on the busy main road & had a bed without a headboard so pillows disappeared in the gap between the mattress and wall. The wall mirror is only suitable if you are over 6’ 6”! No window blinds, so privacy necessitated closing the blackout curtains & living in the dark. "The staff here were absolutely lovely! It's a very quaint inn, just as you might imagine an Inn in the Scottish countryside would be. The room was small but functional. Ours looked out onto a sweet 'wee' courtyard. We had a glass of wine in the bar after returning from having dinner at Kingsbarns Golf club and the bartender, Cammie, was so lovely and helpful. She gave some recommendations of places to see in Edinburgh and let us sample the Irn Bru, which is a local soft drink in Scotland that's...
