"Although we did not have face-to-face interaction with anyone at the property, they were very responsive messaging through Expedia app. The property was lovely and just as the picture displayed. We were able to check in at 1pm instead of 3pm because the housekeeping was done, which was greatly appreciated because we were hot and tired after our trip! The location is wonderful! Walkable to Pontocho alley, Nishiki Market and all the shrines on the East side of Gion. We would stay here again!"

"Absolutely perfect. I needed a quick one night stay, walking distance from Kyoto Station and it had everything I needed. The room is small but no bigger than it needs to be when you just want a bed to fall asleep on after a long journey. The owner met me at the door, welcomed me in, gave me a tour and was generally very helpful and friendly. I'd definitely stay again."

"This was one of our favorite stays in Japan. Our room was clean, organized and a great size! The beds were super comfy and we had great sleeps. The area is quiet and is close to a quaint river. We used their luggage delivery service as we arrived in Kyoto before check in. Their office is about a 5 minute walk from Kyoto station, and you can drop your luggage off and they will deliver it to your hotel. This allowed us to enjoy the day without our luggage before our check in! We would recommend...

"My stay at the hostel was so close to a bunch of restaurants as well as the subway line and just a 15 minute walk to the Kyoto airport so it was really convenient! I got free towels everyday and laundry was just only 200 Yen for the laundry pods. The hostess (I'm sad I didn't get her name) was nice and kind as to show me how everything works. Japanese isn't required but it was nice for me to practice some of it with her. Definitely would stay here again when I come back to Kyoto."

"This property is very close to Kodai-ji, which was very convenient. Also, the host washed, dried, and folded our laundry (a family of 5) while we were out seeing the sites. This was incredibly helpful. Another highlight of our stay was the wonderful welcome tea and tasty breakfast provided during our stay. Although it was a bit more expensive than other options, these benefits were well worth the additional cost."

"Could not be happier about my 2 days stay at Rakucho ryokan. The room was perfect: clean, quiet, the futon super confortable and the showers/toilets clean and surprisingly quite modern. The host was very welcoming and offered really great suggestions for my stay. The small bike rental shop he suggested (“Bike laboratory”) really made my trip to Kyoto a memorable one.
