"We loved this beautiful historic home, its convenient location, and the friendly staff. Our room has a partial ocean view and was beautifully laid out and decorated. The dining room was super dramatic looking right over the cliff. The only drawback is that the cliff is eroding and the home's foundations are within inches of the edge. If the owners don't move the home back from the cliff edge soon, it will be in Hilo bay! If the owners of this property read this review, please save your lovely home/business!"
Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, Trademark Collection by Wyndham
6/10 Okay
"We stayed 2 nights, the first room had a lot of ants so we asked them to switch the room. The other room had also ants, the third room was okay so we decided to move the room. It was 2nd floor which is no elevator. They said no other room we can use elevator but I don’t think so. Definitely not busy time.
The room is ocean front but it is partially ocean front view because of the big tree. I recommend to request upper floor.
I don’t think this is not a perfect location to stay in Hilo unfortunately."
"No A/C in the room. No elevator for a three story hotel. This hotel is very old and has a lot of homeless in the area. the room was clean and we did have a nice view. you hear the jet planes because you have to open the windows to keep the place cool. Nothing is really walking distance for food or shopping. Recommend Ken's pancake house for good local grinds! (3rd floor facing the pool)"
"The start of the stay started off well with Sarge, the property manager, and all, with him cooking for us and welcoming us in. The rules were very strict in having no outter footwear inside the house. The property was nice with a stray cat, named White Knight, being around the property to be there during your stay. However, things went downhill when we found out that one of our friends was hit on by Sarge, which made her feel uncomfortable. We were caught off guard by this action and let the other guests who went there with us, to be cautious and watch over her. "
