"Well presented with table service very nice"

"Once I got my head past the idea that ‘this is not a Marriott’ I came to realize this is a great hotel. Room was comfortable. I was able to park right outside the hotel front door every night. Breakfast was good. The bar area is well presented with a good mix of locals and tourists to talk to. Room attended to daily. The local town is very pleasant. Some great coffee shops and pubs."

"Absolute gem of a place to stay. Gorgeous room with everything you need & so peaceful. The food was really good both for dinner & breakfast. We visited Fountains Abbey which was only 2 miles away. And we could do parkrun with plenty of time to get back before checkout & eat breakfast. Would love to return."

"There was plenty room to park and the staff were welcoming and polite. Having booked a superior room we were disappointed that we had been allocated an attic bedroom with a small very window. Although the room itself was quite large the plaster and paint work was in need of some restoration. With regards to breakfast, it was ‘over complicated’ it would have been much easier to have a menu and then choose what you want at the table. The food itself self was too fancy just serve good quality...

If looking for hairdryer ours was positioned behind the curtain and unable to find it when I needed it."

"The lady that greeted us was lovely and she then told us where our room was. We hoped to eat in the hotel but was told that the chef had called in unable to cook. I tried to find out if we could get breakfast next morning but nobody came back to us. Nobody told us how to exit the building in an emergency and when we left the next morning at 9.45 we had to let ourselves out and leave the keys on the bar having seen no one! "This is superb quirky hotel/pub to stay at. food very high end / good description is Michelin star without being nominated! Each room has a different different theme - all very quirky with ‘surprises’ to match theme. Everyone we spoke to were return visitors - this is THE place to celebrate birthdays or anniversaries. Higher end price bracket but worth it - they do have mid week offers.will definitely return"

"This is a small hotel which has been decorated well. the staff are friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was really good The rooms are clean and lovely. However, there is no lift and there are 3 floors. there isn't a large separate lounge. However ,the views are amazing."

"We stayed one night as a stopover on our way home to Scotland. We had a superior double room in the lodge part of the hotel. Stunning room. Very spacious even with what looked like a super king bed. Lovely to have the little terrace space. Had a delicious meal in the restaurant and excellent breakfast in the morning.
