"The hotel is under refurbishment. This is not reflected in the price nor mentioned when booking. Hotel is in poor condition and the accommodation was not clean. The bathroom had old flannels hanging from the shower curtain and a used bar of soap covered in hairs. I contacted the hotel about my concerns and they said because we had booked via Expedia that I should complain to them."

"I was confused by the reviews on this hotel as they swung from terrible to fantastic. I found the place perfect for my stay, while doing the coast to coast walk. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good, the bar was good, I didn’t require an evening meal. The room was clean as were the facilities. There is really nothing nearby, (by foot). The building is old and does need a lot of work, but this didn’t affect my stay. The room furniture was also a little ‘tired’, but my stay was comfortable."

"Staff are amazing! They can’t do enough for you. The whole building looks like its in the process of renovation, but still a lot to do. Beds are very comfortable, bathrooms are very modern and fresh. Overall decor good, but peeling wall paper, some damp spots need work. Food was very nice. Very peaceful area. "
