"A really old-fashioned Japanese onsen experience like nothing else. We ate in the Japanese restaurant one night and French the other evening. The food was fantastic. Rooms were comfortable but old fashioned. I would highly recommend the room with a private onsen - we saw tanuke (Japanese raccoon dogs) approach whilst we were bathing which was a really special experience. We hiked to the ridge (5 hours return) through a beautiful forest."

"We stayed here as a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids - 10, 6 and 4) in the traditional Japanese room. We didn't get in till 6ish and left early so we could get to Kamikochi but I wish we had of added another night or at least got there at check in time to make the most of the facilities. "We had a wonderful time at this ryokan. We chose this inn specifically for its remote location and traditional atmosphere and were not disappointed. The hotel, outdoor onsen, and woodsy surroundings were all excellent. "We stayed at this ryokan for 3 nights and we loved it there! It is family driven and has such a lovely and local feeling. Our room was big, authentic and had a really nice onsen. We received the best breakfast every morning, it was the best we ever had. We also had dinner there 1 night, and it was such an experience. Everything tasted amazing and we loved that the ingredients was local and in season. We also got help for activities. "
