"We had a good stay at Magic Skies. The property seemed to have a nice atmosphere with the different spaces and room themes though there were some areas undergoing maintenance at the time of our stay. "The place itself was great. Incredibly relaxing! Breakfast in the porch was so nice! Stay went totally smooth. I wouldn't consider it walkable due to lack of sidewalks. But for those people who are looking to relax and sightsee, I actually think the location is better than in the heart of downtown. It's both close to everything and also "out of the way". "

The place is ideal for staying in the Hilo area or for day trips to Volcanoes National Park, or drive to the top of Mauna Kea (4WD required). "Centrally located across of Hilo Bay and less than 10 minutes from the airport so that was convenient. The property is older yet you can see the many upgrades and updates they have done however, there are a lot of stairs to climb with no elevator options. Hallways are also narrow and you can feel the floors are not leveled evenly. Overall the customer service was beyond excellent and you can feel the Aloha spirit of the staff! "

"This is the real Hawaii! The property is located in a relatively remote area about 30 minutes south of Pahoa. Beautiful setting in the middle of a forest not too far from the beach. Isaac Hale Park is within walking distance and although the beach isn’t very safe for swimming there is a pond there that you can swim in. "I love the old Hawaiian look that the Wild Ginger Hotel provides. There were no fancy pictures or decorations but what they did have, gave me a sense of old Hawaii. I enjoyed every bit of staying there and I plan on staying there again."

"The staff was so friendly. There were lots of animals: peacocks, cats, frogs, geese. We loved it! We booked it to be closer to Volcanoes National Park, without realizing there was no road that cuts across. We had to go amidst to Hilo in order to go back down to the Volcanoes, so it wasn't the most convenient, but we loved the vibe!"
