Having decided to spend a couple of days in the Dales we booked Milton House B&B. We were warmly welcomed by Jo and shown to Room 2 which, although quite small, was extremely clean and very cosy and perfect for our 1-night stay. The en-suite bathroom was a good size with a bath and overhead shower and all the necessary toiletries were provided. Tea, coffee, water and homemade biscuits were also available in the room.
An information folder provided details of various walks in the area (you just have to ask for a copy) together with the menus for all three pubs in the village. The hardest decision was which one to choose. We ended up in the King’s Arms and, although it’s recommended that you book a table there, we were able to eat in the bar and had a delicious meal.
Having chosen from a comprehensive list the previous evening, we enjoyed a delicious, plentiful and well-cooked breakfast which set us up for our 4-mile circular walk from the house through beautiful countryside to Whitfield Gill Force, Mill Gill Force and back to Askrigg.
The B&B is in a great location and Jo and Bernie were the perfect hosts. We would definitely recommend Milton House and hope to make a return visit ourselves in the not too distant future.
