"The room was very clean and the staff was lovely"

"Rooms were nice and clean, check in swift and staff friendly. Had the worst nights sleep of my life though. Had to move rooms at 12am as couldn’t get to sleep in my first room due to a constant drone sound from a pump in the building. Reception staff moved me immediately. Finally settled down in the new room only for the fire alarm to go off at 2am. I’m sure my experience would’ve been fine had it not been for those problems"

"Very clean room, very large too. Breakfast had a large selection, but no cheese at all and only scramled eggs, no sunny side up or hard boiled. Coffe was very good."

"First of all, the room was silent, which is a huge positive. Really quiet and peaceful. The ‘king size’ bed is an insult to customers intelligence. Pushing two single beds together and calling it a king size should be criminalised. Properties like this are charging premium prices for facilities, and then providing some hashed excuse which barely ticks the boxes. The internet access is generous and works well. Parking is confusing. Do you pay or not? The shower head was broken and both the bath...

"Overall, we had a pleasant stay. Small attention to details noted - a radiator that was hung very unevenly in our room (eye catching, long term dust build-up on the headboard, staining/drips/splashes on walls next to the toilet and 2 broken windows in 'attic' windows (not what you expect to see when you first arrive at this otherwise beautiful building). "The property was advertised by the Arkel group as having been taken over in 2018 , the rooms were being programmed to be decorated and brought into excellent condition. Unfortunately they hadn’t , now in 2026 ,they hadn’t gotten around to our room , room number 4. Wallpaper was hanging off over the bed, a rug had been pulled over a very threadbare carpet at a strange angle, the curtains were extremely old and the bathroom was barely fit for use. Such a shame as the staff were absolutely lovely...

"Lovely stay. Staff are friendly and helpful . For breakfast there is a great variety to choose from . We had a lovely four poster bag of my on to the garden , bed was super comfy and it was a nice peaceful sleep . Would say that some of decor is looking a little tired and maybe due a refurb but that said our stay was wonderful. Thankyou"

"Great for a stop off before picking up someone from their cruise. Only downside was there was no evening food available at the hotel. Places nearby though. Lovely, clean room."

"One of our rooms was very hot and loud because it’s near the extraction fan from the restaurant. Another room where my parents stayed, the heating was on (during a May heat wave) and the tap/showering water was boiling hot with no cold running at all. The staff came to check, said there are no spare rooms to switch to because of the bank holiday weekend. They called the manager, promised to give me an answer, but then I saw ran to her car and never showed again. I asked another staff member....

"The food was excellent - both breakfast and evening meal. Full fresh cooked breakfast included in the cost of the room. Proper Americano coffee served at no extra cost with breakfast! I had a glass of champagne with the evening meal and it was chilled, bubbly and perfect. "

"Stayed quite a few times here. The bed on this occasion was not in a good state. Both bases on the double bed were sagging in the middle so it was not good occasion"

"Useful location but very close to the A30. Nice hotel/former coaching Inn with friendly welcome. Plenty of parking. Good breakfast. The good size double room had a kettle with coffee bags, fan, hairdryer, iron and ironing board plus large TV. The mattress was a bit too firm for our comfort though."

"Helpful staff, very clean. A bit further from town center but on great bus stop routes. Would stay again but know that there was low water pressure and no refrigerator."

"Beautiful historic mansion. We walked thru nearby parks to the riverfront for lunch. The outdoor restaurant at Orange Grove was very pleasant for an evening dinner and happy hour. The admiral lounge is very comfortable while waiting for pickup to go to the airport or cruise ships."
