QAWRA Palace Resort & SPA

"We had a great few days at qawra palace and we would return here as a budget hotel. Lovely seaside hotel, and kept very clean. Good night time entertainment, good choice of all inclusive drinks, although not many on the drinks menu so you need to ask what they have got. The sunbeds were always available; there was always plenty to choose from. Always managed to get one on both the rooftop and the main pool. Nice access into the sea from a gate at the rear of the hotel. However, the breakfast wasn't great, although the rest of the meals were nice, We went for 4 days and ate only in the hotel for the entire stay. The lifts were terrible. It took 20 minutes to do a lift journey, and each lift ended up at a different floor; some don't go all the way up or down, different lifts scattered around end on different floors meaning walking to another lift to finish your journey. There were maintenance happening at the hotel while we were there. We were informed at the reception on arrival that this would be happening, but when we got to our room, there were workmen in it, even though reception told us that the room was ready. Bars, seem to open and close when they want. Pool side bar advertised open till 10, closed at 6 one day then never opened at all the next so not sure why. The roof top bar closes at 6, still not sure why, but the pool open till 8. All in all, a nice break in a budget decent hotel, would return again but go out for breakfast."

"Hotel staff very helpful, not everything is open yet, rooftop bar / pool/ restaurant was not finished. Breakfast was very busy, didn’t appear to have enough staff / space for all the guests at busy times, but the staff that were there were doing their upmost to accommodate."

"Location is pretty good, close enough to either go on trips, explore Valletta and near restaurants, bars or those wanting more excitement Paceville a short walk. Be prepared for building work, it’s not horrendous, just a fair bit happening in St Julian’s and very nearby. Staff stand out at the hotel in every aspect, very friendly and service with a smile everywhere, including booking taxis. Hotel is 5 star which at night looks lovely, maybe like some reviews said a little dated in the daytime. Rooms are well serviced if a little dated again and Spa is great. Think over the 4 full days we stayed in an executive room, we visited the executive lounge for snacks early afternoon and drinks/nibbles every day; there was an Indian lady, I think Pria? Her smiling face, general conversation made it so lovely to go there. There’s more choice for breakfast in Fra Martino and we managed a table outside every morning. If you like sun bathing by pools, with bars at each it’s perfect, we preferred the Lido and still received an occasional drinks service, There is a small sandy beach though in the bay if you walk a few hundred metres, just expect it to be busy peak season. Debated whether to give it 4 or 5 stars not due to it needing refurbishing a bit, more down to the advertised sea view. My main negative it was a side sea view at best sat on the balcony of 517. The photo showing the sea view is standing up and turning 45 degrees, sat down it’s a nice view of car parks and housing hmmm"

"This hotel does not live up to the Intercontinental name. The hotel needs major room renovations. The lobby area and restaurant areas are nice but the rooms are so outdated. The 1st room we checked in had a musty smell and the carpets were stained. Asked for a room change, the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The 2nd room was a bit better but the same issue with the old carpet. We had club access which gave us separate breakfast area, tea time and pre-dinner food and drinks. The Seabeach pool on 19th floor is very nice but even with Club Access we were told that the amenities were not included and it was an extra charge. Overall not a bad stay. Location is perfect. The staff made sure we were taken care of, and they worked very hard with a smile 😊"
