"Stayed at the New Yorker Hotel for Mother’s Day weekend with my 4-year-old son and 70-year-old mother, and it turned into one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I woke up to find a substantial smoking fee already charged to my credit card because their “sensor” allegedly detected smoking in our room. The problem? Nobody in our family smokes. "Only thing I didn’t like about the hotel was at three of the six elevators were down and also they didn’t come and get my room service when I finished it I had to like take it out of the room myself, but that’s not that big of a deal other than that, it was perfect day. Got me way better room than they originally were at the front desk. They were just like let me see if we can get some better and got me all the way to the 44th floor. I loved it. "Only good thing is the location."

"The hotel was great, however it is very literally advertised on the website as having a 500 square foot rooftop terrace - which it does not. When we asked the front desk they had no idea what we were talking about. Kind of bummer when having a rooftop accessible to us was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. "

"The hotel staff was rude and not helpful . Never saw anyone at the concierge stand. Our room was clean but tired and had nothing. No water ~ not make up wipes ~ no tissues or other bathroom amenities. You could see the light coming all around the door. We were charged a facility fee of $40 and when we asked they said it was for resort amenities. They have a terrace but no furniture so it was useless. The restaurant on the main level was used as storage . With all the other options in NYC I would...
