"Stayed one night at the Quality Inn while in the area to visit Six Flags. It was overall a great value and I have stayed over a dozen times over the years. I had room 415 and while it was fine overall, when entering the room, there was quite a strong unpleasant odor, something I have never experienced here before. That was quite unsatisfying, and I smelled it again after leaving for dinner and returning, and sadly had to adjust to the odor as my stay went on.
I checked in around 7:30pm or so, the woman at the desk was friendly and quickly got my room key ready, however I heard her complain to a friend about working since 6am, and the hotel seemingly being understaffed wasn't the greatest thing to hear.
My room was clean overall, minus the odor, however some bathroom fixtures, the light and tissue box specifically, are covered in rust, and some of the drop ceiling tiles were out of place. The shower was fine, at night took a minute to warm up, but there was good water pressure and it was plenty hot after that! They provide 2 bars of soap for a 2 queen room and plenty of towels.
The beds were comfortable, 4 pillows in each, and I slept well and didn't want to wake up to catch breakfast! That ends at 9am on weekdays but wish it was 9:30 like weekends. There is also a balcony but I didn't use it but nice to have!
Breakfast was fine, eggs, sausage, hash browns, yogurt, especially liked the mini donuts and waffles! It was restocked and they didn't abruptly close it at 9am."
"I’ll start with positives. The hotel was clean and the room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was very good and we liked that they changed the selection each day.
The negatives, about an hour before we arrived with my elderly mother I received a text message informing me the only elevator was not working that day and would be fixed by the next day. We stayed three nights and it was still broken when we left. We had to climb four flights of stairs to get to and from our room. Things break, but we found out from staff that it had been broken for several days prior to our arrival and to not be told until the last minute leaving us no time to make other arrangements was upsetting. The stairs were very challenging for us and many others. On arrival there was a “bellhop” to assist with our bags. The “bellhop” was a small young child. He was very helpful but they needed to have grown adults carrying people’s heavy bags. There was no bellhop present at any other time during our stay. We called the front desk for assistance when we checked out and someone did assist us but we knew he wasn’t happy to be carrying our bags. Our refrigerator was also broken. We had planned to keep food in the room and when we let the front desk know we were told they couldn’t do anything to fix or replace it until we left. The front desk clerk that was there late afternoon/evenings was rude and condescending and made us feel uncomfortable any time we spoke to him. He had a terrible attitude."
"What a wonderful establishment. A small family company operated with the charm and welcome of southern hospitality. I thoroughly enjoyed the owners. Such wonderful and welcoming people. My daughters and I felt safe and totally catered too. Our room was beautifully clean and well capped. Many new amenities were available, and it was very clear that it had recently been renovated. Anytime we go through the area, we will ensure that we stay at the Inn"
"Very comfortable and easy access to Amherst. It's conveniently located to shopping and restaurants as well. Solid breakfast offerings and we also had a mini fridge and microwave in the room. We plan to stay again for future visits to Amherst!"
"This wasn't the best hotel and it wasn't the worst. It was a solid Ok. Check in was fine except my request to extend checkout 1 hour was denied. The reason was since I booked through Hotelsdotcom late check outs are not permitted for those guests. I typically stay at Marriot's and Hiltons as I travel a lot and this is never a problem. Some other issues I would like to point out to future guests so they can decide if the property is a good fit. The pillows are all on the firm side and made of fiber fill material. They also use overly thick winter comforters and polyester/vinal mattress covers that make sleeping really hot. I adjusted the ac down to 66 degrees and that was not enough. The only occasional chair in the room is a monstrous massage chair. It was enjoyable to get a massage, once, However, If you are staying long term and want a place to just sit and relax and maybe read a book, the desk chair your only option. The toilet in our room was not bolted properly to the floor and rocked. The bath sink was clogged. The windows were cracked. The maid came knocking on the door 1 hour before check out! Even tho there was a do not disturb sign on the door. That is real low budget hotel stuff. They also have harsh led, bright white bulbs in the rooms and throughout the hotel. The hotel is an older hotel that was redone. Some of the work was well done, but other things like painting details were lacking. "
