"The hotel was clean and facilities generally good, although beds not overly comfortable. Staff very friendly, polite and helpful. Breakfast was very good as was the parking. I would use the hotel again in the future. Our stay was spoiled slightly by other noisy guests and unsupervised children in the restaurant and running in the corridors in the early hours. This was not the hotel’s fault. Good location"

The ground floor rooms were sorted, but no walk in shower was available for us, and the small lift in the bar area was not working, nor did I see anyone attending to it during our 2 night stay. This limited where my family could sit for meals."

"The reason we chose the Royal Ashton was that they allow pets (for a fee) The room are clean and have good beds. But this hotel has been very ambitious in cramming as many rooms as possible in an old building!"

"This is a difficult review. The owners have only recently taken over and are working hard to improve things. The place is very tired in places, needing repairs and redecorating. The staff were lovely, the food was very good, the bed was nice, clean and comfortable.....but there were stains on the carpet and the bathroom was dirty."
