"This place provided exactly what I needed, a nice clean, quiet, pleasent place to spend the night in Shiner. This is not a place that looks 'modern' and updated, but that was part of it's charm. Do not wait last minute to test getting into your room, the entry was automated and no one was onsite to assist, so make sure you get your door code from your reservation and/or email and make sure it works. Mine did with no issues, but there was a little confusion as to whether the code would be the last four digits of my phone number or another code sent later - mine was the other code, not my phone number. Also when you punch in your code on the door, there is a long button above the number buttons that needs to be pressed after you punch in your code. The process was easy, but I'm glad I didn't wait until that night right before bed to try it out. Overall this was a very good experience and I will be staying again."
"Black Gold Inn was a very nice place to book a stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The parking was great. Our room was clean and clean sheets on the beds. No noise or disturbances during the night. The parking was convenient and right in front of the door to our room. The breakfast the next morning was nice and there was lots of different breakfast items to choose; from eggs to cereal. Even though we didn't use the pool I noticed it was clear and looked clean.
If you need a night or a few nights in the area the Black Gold Inn would be a nice place to stay."
"Booked this property due to its quaint atmosphere. The room was a good size and beds were super comfortable. We stayed on the 2nd floor and there was a coffee bar/water a short distance from our room. This stay was enjoyable. Plus they have an Italian restaurant connected to the inn that has amazing food. We will definitely stay again when we are in town."
"The was clean. Breakfast was okay, but fruit was not fresh. Bananas were a bit past ripe.
We had reserved a non smoking room, but our room had ashtrays in it.
We were running late to an event so didn’t have time to request a change. Needless to say I woke up congested and with a headache."
"The property was beautiful with some very nice sitting areas. The pool was very nice & the room quite comfortable. The hostess Vanessa was welcoming & made a lovely breakfast each day with fresh coffee, baked goods & hot food. She went above & beyond to make our stay nice. We would definitely come again. There are some great restaurants in Gonzales as well. "
