"Everything was good except one tenant who obviously lives in room 228 was loud and his guests were unruly all night. Maybe he works for the motel but…."
"Lubbock Texas and DoubleTree were never two words I would’ve put together. I came back to Lubbock for an event and while searching hotels found there was a DoubleTree on Ave Q. Being a retired public servant in that community I knew from past experience it wasn’t a desirable location, but was pleasantly surprised to see the area and changed heavily and was quite pleasant.
Scott at the front seat was professional and kind. Check in was seamless and accommodations were mostly great. The bathrooms and showers are small so if you are a person of size you may consider an ADA room if available for toilet and shower comfort. I had an issue with the power outlets in my room and was promptly moved to another room that was in working order.
Claraboya Scratch Kitchen was amazing. Slightly pricey, but would definitely eat there again. Bar staff were excellent.
My only complaint is regarding beds. The bed was hard. Comfort and adequate sleep were lacking in otherwise what I would call a wonderful stay. Improved beds with a pillow top or even a a better quality mattress would make this a 5 star stay in my book.
From a former Lubbock resident I would stay again. Just need that better bed. "
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Lubbock Central - Univ Area by IHG
6/10 Okay
"Clean rooms. Friendly staff. It is newly remodeled. BUT. was very cheaply remodeled. Had to move room because tub drain would not drain. Then the new room the door wouldn’t shut and lock properly. "
Baymont by Wyndham Lubbock - Downtown Civic Center
2/10 Terrible
"This property deserves ZERO stars, but that’s not an option. The first room reeked of smoke, the second reeked of urine. The bathtubs and sinks were dirty, the hairdryer had black oil on the handle and didn’t work, there were exposed wires, literal dirt and pet hair all over the floor and furniture. Every front door to the rooms looked like multiple break-in attempts had occurred. Here’s the best part, the manager immediately accepted that the place was disgusting and told me he did not charge me and to follow-up with Expedia. He printed an invoice showing $0 balance. That invoice was a scam, even printed with a future date to make it look like I stayed longer than the 10 minutes it took me to determine the place was disgusting. Expedia is saying the property did not refund me, and there is nothing they can do. This property is a complete scam. DO NOT pay for a room here!!! "
