We stayed at Hotel Major for three nights, and honestly, it was a very frustrating experience from the very first night. The entire second floor, especially our room, had a strong sewer smell that made it extremely unpleasant to stay there.
We raised this immediately and asked for help or a room change. Instead of acknowledging the issue, the staff brushed it off, even though other reviews mention the same problem. When they finally agreed to move us, it had to be before 1 p.m., which was impossible since we had excursions starting at 9 a.m. They refused to accommodate a later change, which felt completely unreasonable.
Housekeeping also threw away our laundry detergent and toothbrushes. Maybe it was accidental, but it added to the frustration.
What really upset us was the air conditioning being turned off at night. The room became unbearably hot, and when we called at 1 a.m., it was switched back on within seconds. That made it feel like guest comfort was secondary to cost saving.
The manager, “Luigi,” was never available when we asked, yet somehow always in the background. He never once spoke to us directly and only appeared at checkout.
We had been looking forward to this trip for a long time, and this stay put a real damper on it. Very disappointing overall. I would not recommend this hotel.
