Where to stay in Rome

Rome Historic Centre
Step into ancient history in Rome's Historic Centre, where the mighty Colosseum stands alongside the Roman Forum and Pantheon. Charming cobblestone streets lead to magnificent piazzas like Navona and the Spanish Steps. The mesmerising Trevi Fountain beckons visitors with its baroque splendour. This walkable area offers centuries of culture at every turn. Metro stations and tram stops make exploring convenient. Traditional trattorias and cafes dot the landscape between world-class museums. The district's golden-hued buildings and historic churches create a magical atmosphere for travellers.

Trastevere
Trastevere's medieval cobblestone streets transport you to authentic Rome, where centuries of history unfold around every corner. Golden light bathes the terracotta buildings as locals chat in hidden piazzas. Ancient churches like Basilica of Santa Maria showcase glittering mosaics dating back generations. By day, explore Villa Farnesina's Renaissance frescoes or climb Janiculum Hill for panoramic city views. As evening falls, family-run trattorias serve classic Roman dishes while street performers entertain in bustling squares. Hop on Tram 8 for easy access to Rome's iconic landmarks.

Monti
Rome's ancient Monti district blends history and trendy bohemian flair just steps from the Colosseum. Medieval churches stand beside chic boutiques on narrow cobblestone streets. Artisan workshops and independent cafes create a creative atmosphere away from tourist crowds. Discover authentic Roman life in traditional trattorias and cosy wine bars throughout the area. Marvel at treasures like San Pietro in Vincoli church housing Michelangelo's Moses. With Cavour metro station nearby, exploring Rome's iconic landmarks becomes effortless.

Prati
Prati offers a refined Roman experience with elegant early 20th-century buildings and tree-lined streets. This upscale district sits adjacent to Vatican City, balancing local authenticity with tourist appeal. Via Cola di Rienzo showcases stylish shopping while charming cafes dot the area. Visitors appreciate the district's walkable nature and proximity to major landmarks. The Tiber River provides scenic paths for evening strolls. Metro stops at Risorgimento/S. Pietro and Ottaviano make exploring Rome's treasures like the Pantheon and Spanish Steps remarkably convenient.

Testaccio
Testaccio delivers an authentic slice of Roman life away from tourist crowds. This working-class district balances rich history with modern culture through its unique culinary scene. The renowned Testaccio Market offers fresh local flavours that reflect genuine Roman traditions. Once Rome's slaughterhouse district, Testaccio now houses contemporary art in the converted Mattatoio building. Monte Testaccio stands as an ancient hill built entirely from pottery shards. Visitors can explore the Pyramid of Cestius or enjoy traditional Roman dishes in family-run trattorias.

The Hive Hotel
"Clean room and the staff nice and helpful"
Hilton Rome Airport
"Excellent excess to the airport. Comfortable bed. TV is SMART and you can connect your own media. We tried to contact the front desks for a question but we continually put on hold. No one picked up for over 5 minutes of waiting so we hung up. The bathroom and room had nice ambience"
Napoleon Hotel
"The hotel has a nice reception area and longe is very nice with a bar. The breakfast is something that would bring me back to this hotel, really good. Shame about the area as 10 years ago it was probably a luxury hotel. Rome has a lot of graffiti and immigrants from Africa…..unfortunately in this area."
Hilton Garden Inn Rome Airport

The Hoxton, Rome
"Room was huge by EU standards, king size bed, very comfortable, big bathroom, everything was very clean and comfortable. The bar and restaurant was great, and the staff always polite. We didn’t use the patio because it was too hot! The neighborhood was also nice and felt safe to walk around. Would stay again"

Aria Palace by OMNIA Hotels
"Perfect location, quiet street, but close to everything. Rooms are impeccable, staff are friendly. -I was worried about the air conditioning situation, since I am from the PNW, I prefer igloo like conditions for restorative sleep purposes. The Aria Palace came through, and I was perfectly comfortable temperature wise. -The rooftop bar is so amazing, a hidden gem. On the rooftop, a pool has been built, but hasn’t been filled yet. Perhaps I will return many moons from now, buy a bottle of expensive sparkling wine, the best Italy has to offer, and frolic in the waters of that future pool like one of those Naiads in the Piazza della Repubblica, cooling off from the heat of a Roman sun. -There is a lobby where expensive books on art and history amidst abstract sculptures and Italian style furniture allows one a quiet time in the afternoon to bone up on the various theories of color and how color relates to the human condition. -If you are from afar and looking for excellent accommodations in this beautiful and ancient city, I highly recommend this hotel. Both a beautiful melody and a breath of fresh air, the Aria Palace is a masterpiece of Roman hospitality."
