"This hotel is a well-cared for vintage motor lodge in the prime of San Juan Island at Friday Harbor. It was nice to have touchless check in (we received an email with the code we needed for our door) and allowed us to get into our room a bit before their posted check in time.
The room had a kitchenette with a small refrigerator and microwave as well as bar seating. We also had two large chairs so we didn’t always have to sit on the bed. The bed was comfortable but overall we felt the room was a bit dark and the bathroom is very small.
I’d say the biggest drawback was how thin the walls are. We could hear a conversation happening next door word for word as if they were in the room with us. They weren’t shouting and seemed to just be talking at a normal volume. Also we were a first floor room and the group above us walking around and moving their suitcases (?) in the middle of the night woke us up. Again it didn’t seem like they were being crazy, just an older motel without much sound deadening.
We liked having the kitchenette as the island has quite a few restaurants, all very expensive and not all are able to cater to dietary restrictions. The kitchenette allowed us to buy some breakfast items at the grocery to have in our room and still have a hot breakfast."
