"We stayed at Baymont by Wyndham Cuero and overall had an okay experience for the price.
We arrived very late (around 2 AM), and the staff was attentive and helpful during check-in, which we appreciated after a long day. However, the room type I had originally selected was not available upon arrival, which was a bit disappointing.
The room itself was decent and, most importantly, clean—I didn’t see any bugs. There was some visible water damage on the wall next to the tub, and the coffee maker being placed in the bathroom by the sink was a little unusual.
The beds were comfortable enough for a short stay. One inconvenience we ran into was the side entrance door we used most often—it would get stuck frequently. We also had to get our room keys reset the next day because they stopped working.
We did check out the gym, which was a nice bonus. It had a treadmill, elliptical, bike, and a multi-station machine (lat pulldown, leg curls, etc.), which was enough to get a quick workout in.
Breakfast was decent with a good variety: coffee, juice, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, a waffle maker, and cereal options.
Overall, for the price, it was acceptable and better than some other places I’ve stayed. Not perfect, but it served its purpose for a short trip."
"This place looks NOTHING like the pictures. It's very run down and looks like low income people are living here full time. When we arrived there was no one at the front desk and the door was locked. A small, aggressive dog was locked in the front office and was barking like crazy. Called number on the door several times for service and was unable to reach anyone. Eventually an employee walked up to the front and asked if we were here to check in, to which I replied "yes" and then she informs us there are no rooms available due to a "plumbing" issue. We booked this room months in advance to attend an event in town which is 100% non-refundable for any reason. She acted as if she had zero care in the world and dismissed us. We drove over 3 hours to be turned away incredibly frustrated, hurt and disappointed. Very bad look for Cannon Inn and the town of Gonzales, TX"
"It’s a lovely boutique hotel that has historic origins but has been fitted out very nicely now as a hotel. The attached Italian restaurant is excellent - we had two meals there and thoroughly enjoyed each. There is no staff to deal with - a lady came from the restaurant to let us our room key and we never saw anyone then. Lots of history in the area - 20 minutes to Shiner and the Spoetzel brewery for the tours there. 10 minutes from the Ottine Mineral Springs Spa. We’ve recommended it to friends travelling soon to the area."
