"I have stayed at this hotel a half dozen times now, and it is my go to in San Francisco. The location is perfectly central, right next to the Chinatown gate and just between Union Square and the financial district. The immediate neighborhood has walkable conveniences ranging from neighborhood markets to coffee shops and lovely small restaurants - particularly several French cafes and bistros. All is always spotlessly clean, safe, and quiet, and prices are a good value for SF. I recommend...

"Great location for exploring San Francisco. We used Lyft, bus, light rail, and walked to the Embarcadero, North Beach, Union Square, and Oracle Park. Very comfortable beds, quiet, great-smelling products, and a spotless bathroom. The staff was very attentive, and my daughter commented on the Forbes service. I assumed the property was newly renovated when it was completed in 2023."

"This is a great alternative in downtown SF to the bland and sterile Hiltons, Sheratons, etc. It's nicely funky, with a mish mash of furniture, patterns and colors, which gives it a very fun energy. Has it seen better days? Probably. It's a bit old and could use a refresh. But our room was large, the bed was comfy, the staff was warm and friendly and the location is so central to walking everywhere. We especially loved the old cage elevator. "

"Juan, the bartender, was fantastic! He was very friendly and helpful as we asked for drink selections and directions. After going to the baseball game we decided to go back the bar just to see Juan. He made us a yummy nightcap."

"The hotel is in a great location, very clean and good amenities. The parking was very steep at $100 which I felt was very high. The facility was very clean and the room was very comfortable."

"This is an incredible value in SF. It's an older building in-town so the rooms aren't huge (but perfectly fine, clean and comfortable) and the bathrooms are small. But the place has tons of (good) character, history, and a fantastic gym/locker room (the pool was under maintenance when I was there but it's a great asset). And, terrific spot up top for dinner and wonderful breakfast. Loved this place, what a find, highly recommend. "
