When we arrived, we had reservations for 2 people. They accommodated 4 in one room stating we would have some small ancillary fees, but then we were charged us an additional ~400 dollars when we checked out. "Beautiful ryokan! Has the perfect balance between tradition Japanese style house and modern twist. The private onsen was amazing, the washing machine in the house was so convenient and easy to use (with the help of Google translate) multiple bathrooms, and ampule of space. The small kitchenette with a fridge also included. I would recommend this place to any traveller. Theres nothing to complain about."

"We spent 3 nights in Kyoto. Wanted a Japanese experience for lodging. Checked out Ryokans in the area. Booked Nishiyama. Our entire experience here was fantastic. The place is within 10min walk from the closest train station. The neighborhood was quiet. The staff somehow knew we were approaching and greeted us at the door. The place has been maintained very well. A peaceful courtyard with a waterfall. Breakfast was amazing. Rooms were comfortable and spacious for our needs. Highly recommended...
