"I booked two rooms for 1 night. Both rooms were dated and 1 was extremely smelly as if someone had been smoking all night without a window open. Even the towels smelt of smoke. Tiles were falling off the bathroom wall. The carpet felt sticky and wasn't clean.
Parking spaces were available however the car park was not lit up in the evening.
Thankfully we had only booked 1 night prior to a flight the next day."

"I found it deeply disturbing that some guests were permitted to sit in the foyer, lounge and breakfast room in their pyjamas and moreover, to discover that this practice is acceptable with Mercure St Helens, Merseyside. All of which made our stay an uncomfortable one."
