"This is a good value room in a pleasant location. The rooms are a little basic but offer good value. Staff are all very helpful especially as we arrived very late."

"Has a cafe bar which is used for meals and has lovely food, the management and staff are really helpful. Loads of parking. No aircon but that is something they could look at going forward."

"This was our 2nd stay when visiting Portsmouth for gigs. The hotel team are always very freindly and helpful. The breakfast is always good with good selection of fruits and juices to compliment ( if you actually have room). Free parking on a 1st come basis. All in all a great place to stay when in Pompey!"

"The outside looks a little tired We had a very warm welcome on arrival Check in was quick and easy We were shown to our room (10) the man made polite conversation. The room was a good size but very dated like staying at your grandma’s. The room was very clean, the towels were white, clean and soft. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept well. There is ample free parking. Overall a good stay for one night."

"I cannot speak highly enough of this Hotel. Our stay was enhanced by the ambience, the welcome we received and the service was exceptional. "There were two restaurants near one Greek and one Latin American we tried the latter and it was good, the Greek one was closed Monday. Staff were welcoming, small family run hotel so personal. Nice bar area. Breakfast was included (continental) but they did offer boiled eggs or bacon bap or sausage bap in the morning."

"The rooms are not in the main building, they are what I can only describe as motel type rooms in a couple of blocks. We had a 1st floor room the window only opened an inch and there was no A/C, didn't get a lot of sleep at the weather therefore the room was baking hot. Lovely grounds to walk round and the breakfast was good in a really nice setting."

"I spent two nights at The Bear Hotel. The room was small but functional; however, the furniture was very tired and badly worn. The paint was peeling and stained in places, as though an old leak had never been properly repaired. The bathroom had also seen better days. Cleanliness was a major issue throughout my stay.
