"The Hungry Trout Resort is a classic place to stay if you are interested in fishing the Ausable River. Very convenient with private access to the river. The fly shop on premises is excellent with great guides! The Pub was great in years past but is closed now. I really hope it reopens. The upscale restaurant is very nice with great views of the falls. Overall a solid place to stay without the hustle of staying in Lake Placid but close enough to go there for dinner."

"We have been coming here for 15 years. They really need to update the workout room, the machines are old and not working. The bathroom showers still need grout cleaning and I told the front desk. Paid $370 for waterfront room for one night. They do allow you to go on the lake early upon arrival while you wait for the room. The kids love stopping here before we spend the week in saranac. It's a great hotel but definitely can use some updating in certain areas. The landscaping by the pool area...

"The place is nice and was much bigger than expected. It was also really quiet which I appreciated because I am a very poor sleeper. At some point, as I'm sure the owner knows, he will need to recaulk the bathtub in room 3. Also, for $300 a night I would have expected better coffee and creamer that wasn't frozen solid. "I had a 3 night stay Fri-Sun. For starters, I called Friday early morning to request early check in. We showed up way earlier than expected around 11:30a so I checked with the front desk to verify a request for early check in and was told “yeah actually it doesn’t look like it will be too long and we’ll call you.” 3:40p rolls around and I went to the front desk to check in never receiving a phone call.
