3. The Bell Inn

"Our 2 night stay at The Bell was enjoyable. Our room and the en-suite was clean, well presented and quite comfortable although the mattress was showing some signs that it will soon need to be replaced! Breakfasts were delicious, well cooked, generously portioned and a good quality. Our one evening meal was equally good and felt home cooked - far superior to the more usual Green King pub fare we’ve had. On both evenings the 2 real ales on offer were excellent – CAMRA take note! Andy, the...

5. Artist Residence Oxfordshire

Witney

"Extremely disappointing stay and nowhere near the standard expected for a superior room. We had booked a twin room but were initially given a double. When we were eventually moved to the twin room we had actually booked, the condition of it was unacceptable. There was hair across the bathroom, stained bedding, significant dust throughout the room and heavy dirt and buildup around the extractor fan and light fittings. The coffee machine still contained water and used pods from the previous...

8. The Swan Inn

Chipping Norton

"We were greeted by very pleasant staff who gave us room 4. At first look the room appeared large and luxurious with a big bath. As I started to unpack I realised there was no wardrobe, rail or hanging space. There were also no drawers so we lived out of our suitcase. That's ok for one night but not for longer. Overall it was quiet however the guests next door were a little noisy when they returned to their room, that's not the fault of the hotel. We couldn't get into the pub car park but there...

10. Bear and Ragged Staff

Oxford

"This was a perfect country retreat and antidote to busy, crowded Oxford. The room was clean and spacious, with everything we needed. This is not a walk to the city - you will need a car or you will need to become very friendly with the excellent local bus system, but the exchange is an absolute charmer of a real traditional country inn and pub. My only complaint is that the morning coffee set-up was coffee in a bag, which was tasteless and gritty. A little Nespresso machine would go a long way...
