"Easy to park, friendly stafff on check in, lovely little town with a good choice of shops & pubs. Room was a good size for a family of 3. We booked last minute as a spur of the moment trip to see our son based at Brize Norton. Would I stay here again - probably not, the room was tired, the fan in the bathroom didn't work at all meaning it remained steamy after a shower for ages, the bathroom window was mouldy & damp because of this. The towel rail was extremely dusty & when i ran my finger over it it had clearly not been wiped over for some time, a clear indicator that the room is not throughly cleaned regularly. The main radiator in the bedroom we could not get it to work meaning we used the tuny electric radiator to get some warmth through. Main bed very large & comfortable & 13yr old son said the sofa bed was good too. Don't book ahead for breakfast its cheaper to buy as you go (or Weatherspoons is a gew steps down the same road). We were in the annexe/out buildings very basic with no frills, didn't eat in the pub itself so can't comment on that but looked lovey inside. For the price it was ok but personally I like a little more luxury, it was simple & comfortable with friendly staff."

"Not great at all. I believe there was a change of ownership 3 weeks ago. Breakfast was poor. Asked for a vegetarian option and there was none. Room house keeping did not happen. Room was fairly clean but carpet was horrid overall. Overall not a great experience. A shame as the reviews seemed good. "

"The staff were lovely and the attached restaurant was great. Sadly our room (11) was run down with lots of problems. The shower was broken so it was hard to set the temperature - an issue with a child. I found the beds to be very soft - something I'm not used to. The worst part though was a large fan outside the room that ran all day and night making it very noisy. As the room overlooked the smoking area if anyone smokes it infiltrates the room. The car park was very tight as well. "

"The Market Tavern is a little gem and a very welcome find! Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff, nice room and bar / restaurant. The star of the show is the food which was superb. A small menu but this means everything is good quality. Prices are reasonable - and worth every penny. With many restaurants now asking £35-45 for a steak, my steak at the Market Tavern was just £24. Ok, it wasn't a fillet or a rib-eye, it was a rump (a so called inferior cut!) But the chef here knows that it's about the cooking and not the cut! Well cooked, tasty and satisfying - all at a great price! What more could you want! A clever move that will bring in the punters! The breakfast (included in the room rate) was also excellent. We have friends in the area and just needed an over night stay so this will definitely be our go to place when we're in the area. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend highly - we'll be back!"

"I stay in hotels all the time for work, so like to think I know my stuff. This hotel is brilliant, great price point and great value fro money. The staff excellent, couldn’t be more helpful and pleasant. Evening meal was very good and breakfast was 10/10. Room decor was nice, great size room 10/10 location great. Don’t hesitate to book this super duper hotel."

"This stay at Blackthorn went above and beyond what I needed - some time and space for myself to write. In the comfort and peace of this hut in this location, I was able to write nearly 10,000 words, unheard of in my everyday busy life at home! The hut was perfect, the bed extremely comfortable with high-quality linens and duvet/pillows. Kitchen very well-supplied with everything I needed (and more). The bathroom was great too, shower a little on the less-powerful side, but I expected that seeing as I was in a small hut and not a house. The internet service was reliable. I used the swimming pond, which was blissful and such a good size - cold to get into, but very easy to stay a long time once you're in. The location is peaceful and very green. (It's on a flightpath, which didn't bother me, I enjoyed seeing the planes going over every now and then.) I went on a nice walk on footpaths leading out of the estate and back through the village where I stopped at the pub for a drink on the way. Just wonderful. I will 100% come back here for some peace and some time to myself."
