"James at the front desk saw that our bags were delivered to our room while we explored the city. Breakfast was fresh, plentiful and hot. Staff was very thoughtful. Did not see any ghosts, but still had an amazing stay. Rye is very sweet and the Mermaid Inn is very special. "

"The location is wonderful right on the seafront, with a car park. The property itself could do with modernising throughout. The bar area vibe doesn’t match the style of the building. My room wasn’t particularly clean the headboard had dust and the tv was covered in dust and the remote was sticky and dirty. The shower didn’t have hot water. We didn’t have a comfortable sleep as the bed was hard and lumpy. If the rooms had a refresh it would be a great place to stay."

"We did not have breakfast. there were shops nearby. our room was dirty. there was mould in the shower. the curtains were torn. the chair was broken. we were given 2 uncovered teabags and 2 mugs and a kettle only. the 2 bath towels were not new. no face cloths or handcloths. the room stunk because the carpet was very dirty. our room had no bedside lamp.
