"There is no other place to stay in Archer City. I wanted atmosphere, and The Spur has atmosphere. HOWEVER, I never saw another human being during my stay. Not to check in or check out … and no other guest. I was all alone in a three story hotel in a strange town. That was BEYOND CREEPY.
As if being alone wasn’t bad enough, I was stuck on the THIRD FLOOR! No elevator! No A/C in the hallways or stairwell. It was so hot lugging my luggage up and down. The A/C in the room was weak at best. It was only as I was leaving the next morning that I saw the stack of fans in the hallway. I would have loved one of those during the stifling night.
Oh … and no TV! That was a surprise, and only served to make the creepy and empty hotel that much creepier. I moved furniture in front of my door … just in case.
I wanted local atmosphere. I got it in droves. Truthfully, if the owners really cared about guests, they would greet them. It’s not like there’s ANYTHING else to do in Archer City on a Friday night."
