"I was visiting a friend volunteering for the Peace Corps just down the road so my location was critical. Was pleasantly surprised upon arriving at the White Sands resort. My room was well apportioned and very clean. It looked out through palms to a beautiful white sand beach and ocean. They even strung a hammock just outside my door which made for excellent down time.
The road in is in pretty bad shape but they are looking to repair it. It adds to the rustic flavor! This is a very small and...

"Fantastic stay. very nice beach.....swim, snorkel right from hotel.
The good:
Location - I would rather stay at Vakaloa (30+ minutes from Nuku'alofa than the other way around.
Beachfront - Sloped beach.... and coral, but sandy (crushed coral).... can walk barefoot
Kayak - They were free to borrow
Snorkeling - Free snorkel gear. You could see some fish right out front....but a great spot about a ten minute walk up the beach.

"This was a last minute booking made when our preferred booking was cancelled, after being confirmed more than three months earlier, apparently due to overbooking??? On arrival, the toilet was broken and dirty. The room wasn't secure as a window locking mechanism was broken. And, for most of our stay the internet wasn't available.
