"Our overall vacation was excellent. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. All was clean and the facilities are great. The only thing we found a little less than our expectations was that some evening entertainment had additional charges and the buffet was largely the same each day, although the food was really good. Despite the sargassum problem the beach was well kept. We are likely to return. "

"Esthetically beautiful. Good place for relaxation. Not for singles looking to mingle. There aren’t many events scheduled. Staff does not provide a list of events daily. They want you to use app but it isn’t listed in detail there either. Schedule your restaurants weeks before arrival if you want to have a chance to eat there. The food was horrible. More older people or families with young children. It is a good distance from anything else and taxi rides are expensive. Drinks are watered downs....

"Unfortunately, our 4-night stay at Playa Canek Beachfront Eco Hotel was very disappointing and far below expectations. We understand this is an eco-style property, but many of the issues were related to cleanliness, maintenance, and basic guest comfort — not the eco concept.
When we checked in, the suite was extremely hot and muggy. The downstairs area felt dirty, the bedding appeared unclean, and the bathroom was in poor condition. One sink did not work, the other had very low water pressure,...
