"The hotel was very clean and in a perfect location right on the beach. The staff were very welcoming/friendly and most were always very helpful. However there were a couple of staff members who were quite rude and dismissive which was very disappointing!! But we would like to mention Josue (rooftop bar) who was AMAZING and very friendly and accommodating!! We had a foul smell coming from the bathroom, so after complaining the staff were very apologetic and immediately upgraded us to an ocean...

"While the property had great possibility, sadly the entire stay felt disjointed due to the way things are run. Example- rooftop pool that has no food/bar available…even though there is a restaurant on the rooftop. The hotel advertised that the rooftop bar was open at 3pm, yet we never saw any staff there until the restaurant prepped to open. "The Mayan Monkey is a very attractive place located in the South of Isla Mujeres. It is very quiet, right on the ocean, but located far from nightlife and restaurants. A city bus or taxi can take you to the more active north part of the island. We paid for an included breakfast for 3 days. On the first day the service took more than an hour and the eggs we ordered over medium came back as sunny side up. The second day the eggs came back over hard. The third day we tried to cancel the breakfast...

"Clean and comfortable room, amazing view and property right on the beach with long stretch of white sand. Walked miles every day - past all of the high end hotels. Only downside was only having one restaurant to choose from if you don’t have transportation but we were there for the peace and quiet, the ocean, and the food was great local fare - like home-cooked meals made with care. We stayed 5 days and never got tired of the menu - love, love, love this place and the people!!!"
