Planet Hollywood Costa Rica by Royalton, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort
10/10 Excellent
"The property is very well maintained, refreshing at entry. I’m thoroughly pleased with my stay. We visited both buffet and other restaurants on the property and both were excellent. The only problem was when we went off the property we were charged a ridiculous price to go NEXT door to the restaurant $170 literally five minutes away. Other than that everything was amazing, staff was top notch nice people. Thanks for the amazing hospitality "
"There’s no Wi-Fi throughout the entire resort it’s only in the common areas. It’s also not worth paying extra for the mini bar. They claim that they only restock it every other day but in my six day trip, mine was only restocked once after I called multiple times, & spoke to multiple people, telling them it was never restocked and they ran out of water bottles, so being someone who needs to take medication in the morning I had to remember to take cups of water back to the room at night"
"Our stay as very good. The staff was very friendly, and for the most part, very helpful. The bartenders were quick to serve you and most of the drinks were solid. There were a few instances where the servers didn't execute on requests--cooking the steak to customer preference, forgetting drink orders, delivering alcoholic beverages when virgin was requested. This last bit could just have been lost in translation.
Aside from the above, the buffet style restaurant served up tasty and healthy options, even if some items got repetitive.
The grounds are well kept and clean. No complaints there.
The room was fine. We reserved the master suite, not knowing that the kitchen would not be stocked with any utensils, pots, or pans. This is an all-inclusive, so not a huge deal, but it would be nice if we'd been able to prep some food ourselves as a change of pace for breakfast or lunch. The TVs were not very functional. The remotes didn't seem to work with the sets. Fortunately we brought our own firestick, remote, and VPN access so we could wind down with our own shows. The air conditioning worked as intended so the temperature always felt good inside.
If you're booking the suite for the benefit of the kitchen, consider booking one of the garden rooms instead. The suite wasn't worth the extra money for us.
Overall we would come back just for the friendly staff. They really made us feel welcome, and it felt bitter sweet when we had to go home <3 Pura vida"
Nekajui Peninsula Papagayo, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

"This was one of our favorite places we have ever been. The communication from before arrival, all throughout was so good and made it easy to decide what to do. The Mantu (friend in native dialect) or Butler guides the day and makes it easy to curate your experience on the go. Must do: Sunset drinks at Ambar one night, spa pool (you can access anytime) for sunset, nature tour, snorkeling (the will lend you a snorkel for right off the beach) Every hour they bring round a little bite or juice while your laying by the pool or beach. Also, I didnt realize you could get reservations and they would take you to the other hotels. We loved the steakhouse and Italian at the four seasons and we liked the asian concept at Andaz. The restaurant by the beach at ritz for lunch is amazing too. My only feedback: add beach totes to borrow in the room, clear the room service trays during stay and coffee shop was too expensive - it was oddly more expensive than anything on the property - except the massages - $650 including tip for a 90 min - it was a STELLAR massage but thats extreme imo. if it was 400 something I probably would have gotten a second one. We loved loved loved coming here and cannot wait to come back."
"The resort was over all nice only issue we had was the day we needed to leave to the airport to depart the transportation to bring us down took an hour to come get us and almost made us late for our flight. The resort is up a hill and no walking is permitted for safety. So you are forced to wait. We called the office several times to get picked up and the phone would just ring and then they would answer and tell us to wait outside so we waited outside of our room for one hour before being picked up. Also, the room stated with the stay you only get two complementary bottles of water and one coffee you have to pay for the rest but other than that, it was a pretty decent day and the resort itself was very nice and close to the beach just keep in mind that you have to wait to go around the resort."
