"We could not use the couch that was in the room without paying extra for it. We were placed on the first floor and the people above us were so loud at night and you could hear every walk back and forth across the room. It made it so hard to sleep. The parking was horrible and every spot was too small to fit in. The vinyl floor in the room was all scratched up and the floor needed to be vacuumed. A rug or a clean front door mat would have helped."

"The hotel and staff were perfect. the location is nestled in a neighborhood and 1 minute walking to the beach. We opened our windows at night to hear the waves. Parking is limited. But parking is limited everywhere in Carmel."

"The rooms and bathrooms were clean and the staff were all nice. It would have been nicer if there is a couch in one of the rooms so we could sit together and watch TV in one room. And the location is great and quiet at night but the bathroom exhaust fans are very loud and can be heard in the bedrooms. But it's still a nice place to stay in."

"I liked the historical ambiance. However we were never informed about the road construction that would be going on outside our window Wed and Thurs morning. Parking was terrible. Then on Fri morning there were street sweepers and garbage trucks. Never quiet and peaceful! Our friends spent more money and stayed in a cottage and said it was adequate. They enjoyed the spaciousness and the best part is the garden in the back. Wouldn't go again."

"The second guest services man was helpful and changed our room due to terrible noise and musty smell in the first room. He was very helpful. This hotel needs a HUGE remodel however. It is old, dated and the locks on the rooms are very antiquated. The shower/tub in the larger suite was odd and claustrophobic. I’m sorry but I would never stay here again."

"Kind owners/keepers, overall clean property, just minor issues with left over tape on the wall from what I imagine decorations that were there previously, some dirt smudges on the paint around window and coffee maker did not work. Still fine for an overnight stay, quiet overall and safe location. Comfortable beds, but too high for little ones as there is hard floor and the beds are higher than normal. Good location."

Our plane from San Francisco could not land safely that evening in Monterey airport because of thick fog so the plane returned to San Francisco and we ended up renting a van with other passengers and drove to Carmel. We arrived late at midnight at the hotel.
