"Disastrous hotel!
Upon arrival, we had a lengthy discussion because we were asked to pay for the accommodation again, even though we had already paid via Expedia.
But worse was water damage during the night, which came from a lifting system—so smelly sewage water in the room. We fled the room with two children (climbing over the bed). The hotel did nothing! No refund or compensation for damaged luggage!
Once and NEVER again!"
"We had a lovely stay. The room was comfortable, the staff were pleasant and helpful, and the breakfast was well worth the price. We ate at the restaurant and both meals were delectable. If you’ve never visited the area, the walk to the schloss and burg is wonderful "

"Merzig was, for my family, an overnight stop both to and from Rettenberg. The hotel was quickly found from the motorway and parking was available. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and pleasant. That breakfast was included was a bonus and there was a good choice of well prepared tasty food. Staff were welcoming, pleasant and helpful. If all Holiday Inn Expresses are as good, they will be my future choice on my journeys."
