Holiday Inn Express Frankfurt Airport by IHG

10/10 Excellent

"Staff was friendly upon arrival, checked in right away. We were surprised on how well they handled a huge group of soccer tournament families. Not to mention, how quiet the night went with all the kids. We were not part of it, but thought oh no, this could be problematic in getting sleep for an early morning flight. Thankfully, We didn’t hear anything!! Very happy about that! The airport is close by!"

"This hotel is ideal for an overnight stay at Frankfurt when the primary concern is to catch a connecting flight the next day from Frankfurt airport. It is close to the airport (5-7 min drive) and the hotel also provides a free shuttle. The hotel.com does not provide any information of how to catch the shuttle or from where. Frequent inquires on the hotel.com site did not help. Ultimately I googled the hotel website and wrote an email directly to them, upon which I received information promptly. The hotel shuttle is only available from Terminal 1, gates B in the arrival section between doors 5-6 where all free shuttles from all hotels do their drop off and pick up. One thing to know here is that there are two NH hotels. Do NOT Take the shuttle for NH Frankfurt Hotel Airport west (blue shuttle), if you booked at this hotel. The shuttle for NH Frankfurt hotel is white and luckily the Hotel staff and had informed me of this in their email. The room was clean and comfortable but the towels seemed old and really worn off. The hotel has a restaurant where you can eat lunch/dinner, which is convenient but the meals were not great/tasty. It was the worst appetizer of Baba ganoush and hummus I have ever tasted and a very mediocre pasta arrabiatta. But surprisingly this same resturant served an excellent breakfast buffet that was worth every penny spent. If I had to do it again, I would definitely stay at this place again. Overall an excellent stay."

"The whole experience was excellent from check in to check out. The buffet breakfast was above anything we expected and well worth the 24eu . To top it all off the hotel was just a short 8-10 min walk to our terminal, all while using the sky bridge system. Weather never comes into play !!!!"

"The big problem was the non-availability of shuttle from Terminal 1 which was the No. 1 reason I booked this hotel. I almost took the wrong Holiday Inn express shuttle before the kindly driver told me that my Holiday Inn no longer had ANY shuttle, not even a paid one. I ended up taking a taxi to the hotel for 8 Euroesd the next day a taxi to Terminal 2 cost $15 Euro for a 2 min trip. Also not much help re transportation to central Frankfurt for some touring (that was another 90 Euros for taxis, my one and only option). The check-in was cumbersome with do-it-yourself filling up a long form. Luckily a staff member helped with that and with one suitcase, as a favor. There is no bell boy available to help and there was no one at the desk in the early morning of the 14th May when I had to depart for my return flight. Likely that's why I got the more expensive taxi. Finally, the room was fine except the lights in the bathroom were too dim for my taste. Also, no room service came by to replentish the in-room coffee supplies. Again only a helpful staff member was able to get me the condiments needed, as housekeeping appears to not be available much of the time. All in all, the hotel was relatively inexpensive and it showed. I would have likely been happier with the more expensive Hilton or Radisson but with better overall service, transportation and amenities. Hence the 3 star rating."
