"Stayed one night at The BoardWalk Hotel in San Diego on 4/15 and had a great experience overall! The location is unbeatable—just a short walk to the beach, plus tons of restaurants and bars nearby which made everything super convenient and fun. The room itself was well-equipped with great amenities like a full-size fridge, strong A/C, and really modern features in the bathroom. One of my favorite perks was having access to free beach rentals from the shop next door—that was such a nice bonus. The only downside I noticed was that the floors in the room didn’t seem very clean. After walking around barefoot for a short time, my feet got pretty dirty, so I’d suggest a more thorough mopping between guests. Aside from that, everything else felt very clean and well-maintained. I’d definitely recommend staying here, especially for the location and overall value!"

"Looks to be deep in the middle of a much needed remodel and our room was pretty rough. CONS: Oily stained carpet (the kind that makes you keep socks on at all times!), dresser had been removed, all lamps had been removed, frighteningly old air unit, no hairdryer, requested $100 cash deposit PROS: price, good shower pressure, REALLY nice maintenance guy who secured us a lamp and a hairdryer on day 2. The general area is fairly industrial but walkable to grocery store, CVS, coffee shops, and casual restaurants"

"Check in staff were great and lovely. The bartender on duty at the pool was lazy, rude and rolled his eyes when we ordered an additonal drink, saying that we hadn't actually ordered two, just one and now he had to make another one. Food took almost an hour to receive it from the time of ordering. The bathroom shampoo, conditioner (amenities) were rusty around the bottle, dirty and said "non-refillable" but 2 of the pumps were out of the bottle. Very unhygienic and false advertising. Poor experience for $400+ a night."

"The view was fantastic. Room had black mold above the bathroom light that had been broken and not fixed before our stay. Staff offered upgrade for our honeymoon then mentioned it was an upcharge. The ice machine outside our room was broken and I could hear it malfunctioning all night. There was a teamsters union party that was screaming and partying all night for the first three nights we were there. Hidden fees were almost double the cost of the stay. Called hotel and emailed and only got through and was met by very rude customer service staff who offered one free night and gave the money back for the upgrade. So, we do everything we could to be out of the hotel room. Wouldn’t stay there again. "
