The room was spotless, Lisa was welcoming and helpful. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and milk in the fridge were provided. The full english breakfast was perfect too.

The owners, Lisa and Christof were such amazing hosts, nothing was too hard to organise. Breakfast was the best we’ve had in a long time, each meal individually prepared. The rooms were beautifully presented and perfectly functional. It was pet friendly, however we did not have our dog with us. A short 8-10 min walk to the Torquay foreshore and restaurants, a great location and wonderful stay.

A real gem

Beautifully decorated and furnished. Immaculately clean. Gardens and location are lovely. Do yourself a favour and order the optional breakfast- has to be the best in Torquay. Great hosts. We loved it - a real gem. We’ll definitely be back.

Superb!

Absolutely superb stay! Room was perfect for us as a couple, our little toddler and our dog. The room and ensuite was clean, the breakfasts were delicious and nothing was too much for the hosts. Lisa in particular was an absolute delight to be around. We all had a wonderful time and will be back again soon 😊

Going on holiday but feeling at home. Greeted with such a warm welcome from lisa lots of smiles. The room was so beautiul, massive bed and super comfortable. The room was very clean and well presented. Bathroom had big shower and again very well presented with complimentary body wash and shampoo. Breakfast was very nice, service quick and friendly. Maybe an option of veggie breakfast would be only minor thing to add but was very well looked after with options.

We loved our stay at The Charthouse

We loved our stay at The Charthouse, and are so glad we got the chance to visit and explore Torquay. The location is within walking distance of the beach, the town itself, and a picturesque path suitable for dog walks (Note: If you own a dog that doesn't like other dogs, this path may not be suitable, as there are a lot of other dogs, some off lead). Lisa & Christophe were great hosts - Lisa being a friendly welcome face each and every morning, and Christophe cooking a hearty full English breakfast (alternatives are available), the pre-breakfast fruit salad being the highlight - delicious. We stayed in a dog-friendly room and found it to be perfect offering private access to both the room and the garden. We plan to return to Torquay at some point, and would happily stay here again. Thanks for hosting us Lisa & Christophe.

The perfect place

The Charterhouse was as advertised, only better. Our room was very comfortable and large. The couple who manage the hotel were very nice and easy to communicate with. The location is really special, in walking distance of Torquay, but a little removed on a quiet country lane, half a mile from the lovely Cockington Country Park. It is a lovely Edwardian building, well maintained. The cleanliness was really impressive.

The owners were very friendly and the property was well maintained. We couldn't fault the food that was served for our breakfast which had all been sourced locally. The hotel is in a quiet location, just a five minute walk from the seafront and a gentle stroll down into Torquay. Would certainly recommend The Charterhouse.

Brilliant Hotel

What can i say. Lisa & Christoff were absolutely brilliant , they done absolutely everything to make our stay a fantastic experience from day 1 to day 5. The hotel is a very large house in a lovely part of Torquay, very private and peaceful. You placed your order for breakfast the previous day, very comprehensive menu. It is just a short walk from the seafront and the bus stops which is a great aid if you have problems walking. We can understand why some of the guests we met there, return year after year, you are made so welcome. 1St Class.
