Hilton Vacation Club The Historic Powhatan Williamsburg
6/10 Okay
"The property was very quiet but there was trash left outside the door for at least 3 of the 4 days that we stayed by previous occupants. No clean linen was ever dropped off or toiletries had to keep washing towels. Ants were crawling out of the dresser. Pools were nice and clean and check-in was a little longer then expected."
"The staff really went out of their way to help us with a heavy piece of medical equipment. We've stayed here several times now while traveling up and down 95 and keep coming back because it has a good feel and seems well run.
The location is convenient yet quiet with several good dinner options nearby."
"The property can monopolize on the rate be because they have no real competition for accommodations for travelers. The appearance of clean is there at the exterior, however, the property (rooms) is deteriorated with worn furniture, rusting framework, heavy limescale in the shower, and appearance of mold forming in the ceiling. Rate paid definitely did not match the quality. Breakfast options very minimal. Choice brand standards definitely have not been met."
Holiday Inn Express and Suites - Petersburg - Fort Lee by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"rooms were clean and tidy. Staff & customer service was excellent.
The pancake waffle unit was out of service- how difficult is it to get a replacement unit on site?.
My granddaughter was disappointed and we went elsewhere for breakfast. breakfast as an amenity is part of the reason we choose holiday inn express. a protocol to get units repaired or replaced "quickly" should be instituted and customers should be made aware of the issue during check in. Thanks"
"I rarely leave negative reviews and generally try to find the positives when I travel, but I feel compelled to share an honest experience for anyone considering staying here. The grounds are beautiful and the property has a great setting, which is what attracted us in the first place. Unfortunately, that is where most of the positives end. For the price being charged, the accommodations simply do not meet expectations. The rooms feel very dated, and not in a charming historic-inn way. The bathrooms were particularly disappointing, feeling worn, inefficient, and in need of major updates. The walls and floors seem incredibly thin—we could hear people walking in the hallways, neighbors talking, and guests above us throughout our stay. It was difficult to relax or get a good night's sleep. The pool area has a lot of potential, but it appeared poorly maintained. This wasn't a case of a few leaves floating around. Parts of it looked slimy and green, making it feel unclean and uninviting. The staff we encountered were polite, but service was inconsistent. Several times we requested items only to be told they were unavailable or out of stock. The overall level of professionalism also felt lacking for a property positioned as an upscale destination. Breakfast was average and nothing memorable. The grill restaurant service was surprisingly slow, with waits approaching an hour just to receive drinks. Its such a shame because this place could be amazing!!"
"The water pressure was good… there was no staff to be found, the hallways reeked of mold and something else like old bacon grease and marijuana. This place is like you wanted to sleep in your car, but not really. I would rather sleep in the woods on top of a jagged rock covered in poison ivy than stay here again. The keys only work part of the time and not on all the doors. If you need staff, you have to go to the office, call the number on the sign and wait for them to pick up, then wait for them to come to the office."
