"The room was good a couple of niggly issues that we did mention to reception. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was really good ,the continental was varied ,fresh and tasty. The cooked breakfast i had was good."
"I recently stayed at The Grand Hotel Birmingham with a party booking three rooms. Overall, the hotel is clean, tidy, well-maintained, and feels very fresh.
Check-in was quick and efficient. We initially stayed in Grand Double Rooms on the second floor, which were modern, clean, and offered plenty of space, along with a spotless and fresh bathroom. The hotel bar is also a lovely, relaxing space with friendly and highly efficient staff, though prices are on the higher side, it would be a classy touch if they offered complimentary nuts or snacks with drinks.
Unfortunately, our first evening was severely disrupted. There was a function on, and the bass was so intense that the rooms on the second floor were literally bouncing, making sleep impossible. When I complained to reception, the staff initially seemed reluctant to help. However, after I explaining that I was travelling with someone recovering from a stroke who had gone to bed at 18:30 and was unable to sleep, they took action.
They moved two of our three rooms up to Grand Deluxe Double Rooms on the fifth floor. These rooms were fantastic very large, spacious, clean, and quiet enough for us to finally get some sleep.
The music continued into the early hours. It was highly disappointing that despite requesting that the duty manager contact me, they didn't bother to do so."
"Stayed there with friends for a concert and it was perfect for us, rooms are small but its just somewhere to sleep so it was absolutely fine! The staff were very helpful! Cheap as chips for 2 rooms less than 60 quid between 5 of us!! And a tenner for parking overnight! Can't go wrong, if we are ever going to Birmingham again this is where we will be staying! Oh and only a short walk to China Town and gay village which we loved!!!"
"We stayed here for a couple of nights while my partner visited the convention at the nec. We had lovely weather but unfortunately the hotel is quite dated and has no air conditioning in the rooms. Some hotels that don’t have air conditioning do put fans/heaters in the rooms but no fans were provided during the hot weather at this hotel.
We also found the air vent in our bathroom had not been cleaned in some time as it was thick with dust and so stopping the vent from working making the vent useless.
This is a handy hotel for the nec only about a 15 minute walk away and the lady on reception when we checked out was very friendly. But be warned it is a dated hotel. "
"Hi I stayed 2 nights. With single bedroom. Apartment the room is comfortable good for the price. But the area where my room 368 located is very hot. And I request to the receptionist if they can able to transfer me to other room. But they said is fully booked. But they told me to try to call tomorrow. So the next day morning, on my way to city center. I stop in the receptionist and discuss this issue. And she transfer me to double bedrooms. And I'm so very thankful so overall I had a great stay experience."
"Great stay at the Royal Leonardo hotel in Birmingham. Great room, booked an executive room which was worth the little bit extra. Quiet, clean and friendly staff on checking in. The location is excellent near to Brindly Place for good restaurants, within walking distance to Bullring and central areas(New street train station)
Hotel has its own car park, but can be busy if you arrive later in the afternoon/evening."
"Absolutely shocking. The air con had stopped working but this information wasn’t given to us. We checked in and overhead another guest talking about the lack of air con so we asked and were sheepishly told we could either have a refund or a fan. We went to the room to assess the situation and it was awful. We received about 8 emails prior to check in, asking if we wanted to upgrade our stay but no one thought to pre warn us of the biblical temperatures. We were told that the air con in the building wasn’t sufficient to service all the rooms to the degree of heat we’ve been having which would seem to be a massive oversight for a chain as big as Radisson. As it was so late in the day, we couldn’t find alternative accommodation so had to return home instead which ruined a birthday weekend that we had planned. Luckily we managed to find alternative accommodation the next day but I feel a lot more could have been done by the staff and hotel. Surely there is a sister hotel they could have contacted or at least tried to fix the situation but they couldn’t have cared less. They very much gave the air of just trying to get away with it as best as they could and were trying to keep as much business through omittance of truth. Absolutely diabolical way to treat customers."
